JOHNS CREEK, GA

In this blog post, we are going to take you on a tour of Johns Creek. My family and I have lived here for over 20 years and raised our two children here. Before we get started, here are some quick facts:

Close Proximity to Other Cities

Johns Creek is a suburban city located northeast of Atlanta, about 15 minutes from the Perimeter. Johns Creek was once just an unincorporated area of North Fulton County before becoming a city in 2005. Our closest neighbor is the city of Alpharetta, and the residents of both cities attend the same excellent North Fulton schools and enjoy both cities’ park systems.

Career Opportunities For Every Age

Though many residents commute into to Atlanta to work, Johns Creek is home to several Fortune 100 companies.  Johns Creek Technology Park is the central business district of the city and is home to many of companies as well as our government centers.

Top-Rated Schools & Affordable Housing

Two factors that attract buyers to the Johns Creek are the nationally ranked schools and the amenity-rich neighborhoods. No matter the price point, most neighborhoods offer swim and tennis facilities, clubhouse or pavilion, and a strong homeowners association.

I know those two things brought us here. We have three stellar high schools in John Creek: Northview, Chattahoochee, and Johns Creek.

A Welcoming Community

Johns Creek offers easy commute options into the city via Peachtree Parkway, Peachtree Industrial, and 400. For recreation, residents enjoy Lake Lanier 30 minutes north and the North Georgia mountains just beyond. The Chattahoochee River runs along the east side of the city and an old railway bridge is currently being rehabbed to be a pedestrian bridge that will allow residents to walk across the river to neighboring Duluth.

A Haven For Foodies

Even though we are a suburban city, Johns Creek has some really great independent restaurants featuring a variety of cuisines: Italian, seafood, Mexican, sushi, Thai, and fine dining. We also have some great brunch spots and a fantastic brewery, Six Bridges Brewing. Johns Creek also has one of the largest Whole Foods in the southeast as well as a local seafood shop. Trader Joes and Fresh Market are located just minutes away in Peachtree Corners and Alpharetta, respectively.

Shop ‘Til You Drop

Premiere shopping is at your fingertips. We have access to three great outdoor shopping centers: Avalon, The Forum, and The Collection. Residents also enjoy just being a short 10-15 minute ride to bustling downtowns such as Alpharetta, Roswell, Norcross, and Duluth. Great dining, free concerts, and festivals can be enjoyed on a weekly basis!

Incredible Recreational & Multicultural Activities

We have an excellent park system including, but not limited to, Newtown Park. Newtown has soccer fields, pavilions, free exercise classes, and an award-winning dog park. There are big plans for our community. The city has drawn up plans for The Legacy Center of Johns Creek that will house our symphony and will also be a venue for concerts and theatre.

If you are a golfer, Johns Creek has three country clubs: Atlanta Athletic, St. Ives, and Country Club of the South. We also have an excellent local course, River Pines.

St. Ives and Country Club of the South are both excellent residential neighborhoods. Price points for detached homes and townhomes range from the mid $300,000’s to well over a million.
